I have experimented using a TS-2000 for remote Satellite operation. I put the TS-2000 in the Wireless Remote Control Mode, Sky Command could be used with the a Kenwood HT. Setting the TS-2000 to receive the downlink from AO-51 and retransmit it on 145.550. The remote station uses a simple ground plane and transmits directorially to the bird and listens for the downlink on 145.550. The main problem with this is to control the TS-2000 the remote station has to change frequency to 145.550. Fred KF0AK
Fred, Can you change memory channels on the 2000 from the remote end? I'm thinking that you could easily setup a bunch of channels with the frequencies for Doppler correction and then be able to change the channel remotely to fix your Doppler shift. Again, speculating as I'm not aware of the capabilities from the remote end.

HI Eric, Yes you can page 82 in the TS 2000 manual describes how to do it in the wireless remote control mode using DTMF tones. Using a Kenwood Packet type transceiver or any packet station you are able to control almost all adjustments to the TS 2000. The decimation for this is in the back if the Kenwood manual. Suggestion: it would be nice if some one could write a program just to control the TS 2000 for satellite communication via remote control. \ Fred ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric Christensen" eric@christensenplace.us To: "Fred A Parker" fparker@paulbunyan.net Cc: "amsat-bb" amsat-bb@amsat.org Sent: Monday, February 26, 2007 5:47 AM Subject: Re: [amsat-bb] Re: Ham HT and SkyCommand

We can do that on SkyCommand too, but it seems a cumbersome way to change bands. I am certain that while I was experimetneting with SkyCOmmand, that I could just change bands by simply entering a new freuqency on another band. And it would go there.
At first, it did not work (would not let you enter a freq on another band). Then it did for a while, and so I completed installatoin of the SkyCOmmand system. Now then, it no won't. Still searching for what has changed on the TS-2000... (in SkyCOmmmand mode). Bob

Byon says you have to shut down the RX link (on VHF) to change bands. Tried it and it works! That also explains why sometimes it worked and sometimes not. So now SkyCommand is fully operational with multiple users in the local area. Now all I gotta do is buy an automatic antenna tuner before I let anyone transmit.

You ask, why not control it over the internet? Well, because I think HAM radio is an RF kinda thing. Being able to monitor HF from my D700 via SkyCommand while I am in the mobile is kinda neat. Actually, this just adds to the things one can do on the heads-up front panel of their D7 or D700:
1) Send and receive Email (via APRS MSG to EMAIL) 2) Send and receive WinLINK email (APRS-link system) 3) Query the QRZ database (via APRS MSG to SAQRZ) 4) See Freqs/loc's of local VOICE repeaters while traveling 5) See alerts to local nets and hamfest objects 6) See traffic info from APRS-TRAFFIC alerts 7) Remotely OPERATE any public SKYCOMMAND RADIO! 8) Oh, and APRS (positions, messages, Igates, FINDU, etc)
