I've misplaced my IC-910 manual, and I need pin numbers for the 8 pin ICC-1 to connect my radio to my computer sound card so I can use MixW.
I can read the pin numbers. One of them must be ground, and the other pin number for output to the sound card...

I see that Apex Software is selling, amongst other things, GPREDICT on e-bay. Does this conflict with anyone's GPL license?
No. The GPL has no restrictions on packaging and reselling software *as long as you make the source code available*. If they don't include at least a link to the source they're in violation, otherwise they're OK. Jim KQ6EA

I realise the legal aspect but have been to several times by software authors not to charge more than, say, $5 to cover media costs. I guess anyone who pays $20+ for something he can get free is a bit of a fool.

Hah! You'll get no argument from me on that point. Now if the repackager adds something to it, like a nice "HOWTO" for setting it up and running it, and a list of links to other satellite resources, then they've added some value to it, and (I think) would be justified in charging a bit more. I haven't seen the auction, but I'll go look for it. 73, Jim

Well, I've had the chance of inspecting one of these CDROMs. The only "added value" I saw was an installer script that unpacked a ZIP file. I don't know how much added value that is... No, what I would call added value is if they would take my source code and build a windows executable themselves and take care of the windows port. But of course they don't do it. Consequently, what they are selling on ebay now is way out of date compared to latest releases, since I have stopped making windows versions.

Hi, Alex, nice to hear from you. Thanks for clearing up exactly what these guys provide. I checked your home page for GPredict (which I use and enjoy!) and noticed you state the Windoze version is out-of-date. Yep, eBay is eBay, and as always Caveat Emptor! Thanks for providing your software! 73, Jim

Hi guys,
Just a clarification... these ebay sellers are NOT the software authors. I am the author of several GPL software that has ended in the claws of these ebay scammers. I have never charged for my ham radio software and I will never do. It has always been available for free download.
While what these ebay scammers do is not illegal I strongly question their motives and business moral. The "product description" is a complete ripoff from my websites. This includes the screen shots. The only difference is that they have been altered to remove any traces of the original software name and authors. These scammers don't contribute anything back to the software development. They don't even provide proper customer support as they promise on ebay; people end up sending me emails requesting my help since they paid for the software... Very encouraging...
The reason that people are willing to pay $20+ is because they don't know what they are buying and they don't know that they can download it for free. What makes it even more pathetic is that it would take much less time to download the software than to to complete an ebay transaction.
What's puzzling me is all these 99.9% AAAAA++++++ feedback the ebay scammers receive. Surely something is not right on ebay.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the clarification. I took a look at their eBay site, and the big clue to their scam-ness is how much space they take up explaining that they are legit. A sure sign of trouble...

You're perfectly entitled to sell GPLed software. If they have made any local modifications, they must publish their changes.
You can modify GPLed code as much as you like without publishing your changes, as long as you don't distribute the modified code either.
