Interesting rig. I'm going to guess that "Inspection" is part of some sort of Scanning function, as it's an obvious feature not listed elsewhere. Stun and Kill are probably Pause and Stop or Cancel. Revive would be Resume. Not sure about Monitor. Maybe it opens the squelch? Ah, perhaps remotely turns on the transmitter so one can monitor what's going on at the remote side? It's full duplex, so technically you could do this. Not sure how it would ID, however.

The Vice Control, by context next to the Master Control, would be a secondary role, like vice president. The way they are depicted, Master is more of an Admin / Manager role, and Vice a User / Operator mode, with the ID codes used as remote access keys.

I'm a bit concerned about their knowledge of Ham Radio, and their intended market. They seem to be going out of their way to make it like a miniature phone system (the rig can "ring" when "called"), with 15 number codes (like speed dials?) and individual Rig IDs. The out of band examples with the repeater diagram suggest a casual regard for the law, at least by the manual's author.

Maybe the Vice Control could use the Stun and Kill functions to maintain order?

I have email in to Radio Mart about that. Their HT line gets generally good reviews based on value/$ but with the caveat that they are not on a par with Kenwood, Yaesu, and Icom WRT features and often performance. Still, looks interesting.

From what I have found, it ( BAOJIE BJ-UV55 Dual Band 136-174/400-470MHZ

Transceiver) is not full duplex. I really like my TH-D72A, but it is a LOT more $$. I hope to make some Q's via the Hamsats in early September off the coast of AK with it.

Stun and Kill are functions normally used in commercial two-way radios. These functions allow a radio to be remotely disabled. Other radios have a "revive" function, which allows a disabled radio to be remotely reactivated.

Well, I guess that would make sense too. Thanks Patrick, I'd never heard of that before.

So, what exactly is their target market for these things? I may not be confused anymore, but I think they still might be.

Since these newer Chinese-made radios come to the US market with FCC Part 90 certification, they could be used for commercial two-way radio applications. When these radios were being sold by shops outside the US, they would not come with any sort of FCC certification. The Wouxon HTs started this "trend" of having the radios meet FCC Part 90 and marketed for both amateur and non-amateur use, and sold through US-based importers and dealers.

It is interesting that they can be certified under Part 90, yet are field- programmable (for hams, our ability to program the radio memories or even have access to VFOs) - something that is usually a no-no in the eyes of the FCC for commercial radios. If that mode is disabled with the programming software, that may be how the radios are gaining certification for commercial use. Some commercial radios have a field- programming mode that requires a passcode or physical key to access, and is usually only in the realm of the shops that sell and maintain these radios.
