Im a little unclear of how to determine what mode AO-27 is in, I would like to try and see if I can hear / work this sat. The amsat-na web site dosent seem to have any schedual up yet.

I have not a user of AO-27, yet, so cannot confirm where it is accurate, as it depends on getting an update file from the AO-27 site. Perhaps someone who is knowledgeable can comment on whether it is current?

The files needed for that program are at www.ao27.org, look for the links to Epoch.txt and TOPR.txt on there. Another option that works for the upcoming 24 hours is to view the following page:

Compare the times on there when you see "Analogue Med" (this is when the repeater will switch on) with your own tracking program or the prediction utility on the AMSAT web site to see when AO-27 will be available. Keep in mind the AO-27 clock runs fast, gaining 0.7 second per day, so the schedule will gradually differ from what the satellite does over time.
Since its passes are not compatible with my current work schedule, I'm looking forward to trying this next weekend. When it was last on in late 2005/early 2006 I made a few hundred contacts and enjoyed it despite the limited operating schedule.

I forgot to mention that the program does have an update function for the TOPR and EPOCH files. Both of those files downloaded properly and are current, and at least a quick glance shows they program predictions are consistent with the site postings.

I was just on AO-27 this afternoon around 2142 UTC. Much more data than the traditional 20 seconds before the repeater switched on, and then the repeater appeared to run less than 6 minutes. I just looked on the AO-27 web site, and it was updated to show that the "Analogue Med" time is now 5 minutes instead of 6 minutes. The schedule also lacks some of the digital time on the passes where the satellite was moving toward the south.
Michael N3UC (one of the AO-27 command stations) was on the last AO-27 pass, and commented about the batteries on the satellite. This revised schedule may be an attempt to keep the satellite working a little bit longer.
Going outside for AO-27 in about 15-20 minutes....

Thanks for the plug for my son's little program, Alan... I'm a very proud Papa! (It's even "plugged" on the AO-27 site itself!)
It is just as accurate as the AO-27 web site's own output (I just ran them side-by-side last night), and has the advantage of running on your PC/Mac/Linux box (it's in Java, so it's platform-independent) wherever you are without the need for an active internet connection, as long as the TOPR and EPOCH files are up-to-date (and they don't change all that often). You just need to have the Java runtime environment installed on your particular flavor of computer, and run the Update function from the File menu the first time you run it.
The 24-hour "look ahead" is quite handy for determining which passes will be active for your location: just compare the Analogue mode times with the visible passes for your QTH (in UTC, of course).
