Looks like I'll be programming AO-7, AO-27, FO-29, SO-50, AO-51, VO-52, and the ISS - in appropriate modes - for the weekend!

This year I have to new 9100 and a rotor controller to let the computer (MacDoppler) do everything (rotator and full doppler). What a way to go for 100 points :)

Yeah, but just think of the conversations you'll have with that great-looking equipment up and running!
Heck, I sometimes take my M2 eggbeater to shows/fairs, and put it on a mast and rotator ... I call it my "souffle antenna." NEVER fails to initiate conversations ... (grin)

You going to be busy. Yes, that was my current list. I was just wondering if anything had changed. I have had the best luck with transponder birds. That would be VO-52 and FO-29, correct?
Thanks, Chris Maness

Don't leave out AO-7... looks like it will be in Mode A at the start of FD, and switch to Mode B around 23:35 UTC. As long as no one runs too much uplink power (like some regulars who shall remain nameless...), causing it to FM, it's a great bird!

That would be fun. I would like to operate a bird that is almost as old as I am :o) I have never used AO-7 before. Do you think it is doable with an arrow antenna? Will I need to try to use CW? I have never used CW on the sats before.
Thanks, Chris Maness

You are welcome to try CW, but SSB will work on AO-7. Last year, I worked all FM and SSB satellites with 5W and a handheld dual-band Elk log periodic. As has already been mentioned, if everyone watches their output power to these satellites, it will be a fun time on those passes. :-)

Good deal. I will give it a go.

Hi Guys,
I can easily work AO-7 on SSB with just Lindenblads and a vertical for 10m (mode A.) Please give it a try and work us at NS1RA on FD!
