I am returning to satellite operation after a ten year absence (my last satellite QSO before Feb 07 was literally 10 years ago on 3/25/1997 via RS-10)and have a couple questions. I have recently operated on a number of satellites (VO-52, AO-7, FO-29, etc) and the AMSAT web site has some great info on them, but I find the entries for AO-10 and SO-33 confusing regarding whether they are operational or not? For example, the AO-10 entry is listed under operational sats, but each mode entry is listed as 'non-operational' and the weekly SAT update says it is stuck in Mode B... Are either of these SAT's actually operational at all? I have not heard either of them on the air, so I imagine not, but, never hurts to ask.
Thanks in advance,

Matt,
First of all, welcome back to the birds! My situation is a lot like yours - though I never operated in sats back in the 90's, I wanted to, and I finally have the chance to build up a station.
I'm finding that the best place for current, updated info on "who's hearing what" is at http://oscar.dcarr.org/ . It's a community-driven reporting engine that you can submit listen or QSO reports to, so that we can see what's active.
Could not answer your questions on AO-10 or SO-33 for certain, I'm still building up my station and RX only, but I have not heard anything about them.

AO-10 has not been heard in several years, but due to the nature of how it failed, it may reappear at some point in the future. I check for it every so often.
I don't think the transponder on SO-33 ever worked, but as I recall there is a 9k6 packet beacon every 60 seconds on UHF. I have used it and PO-34 as signal sources in the past.
Thanks for joining back up, and I hope to work you on the air sometime soon.
