Re: Alinco DJ-G7 updates
Alan - Are you experiencing any improved performance on the sub-band when working the birds?

Clint,
Actually, I gave up on it as a satellite rig. Right now, it is being used, with great success, as the RF for a fill-in APRS digi. If someone reports better satellite results, I will give it a try when the WX warms.

Darn. Still leaves us without a viable TRUE duplex HT in the marketplace.
Man, if I win the lottery, I'll have the IC-W32a re-issued ... with complete voice prompts for the vision-impaired, 1.0 and/or 2.5khz tuning steps, 2.5W with 4.8VDC, 1,000 memories, some sort of USB charging capability, commercial spring belt clip, AMSAT membership form ...
That little radio has a great "feel" in your hand. It is missed ....

Memories need to be capable of storing cross-band splits (TX on one band, RX on another), which I don't think ICOM usually supports.

I have not tested it on satellites but the sensitivity on the sub-band is not good compared to the main-band.
To solve this you can enable the "lamp/squelch" button to be the PTT. Now you can receive on the main-band and when pressing the "lamp/squelch" the PTT is x-mitting on the frequency you have on the sub-band.
This could be a solution for the bad sensitivity.
