Is anyone out there successfully using an RTL-SDR with SDR#, a virtual cable, and MMSSTV to receive the pictures from ISS? If so, can you please share your settings with me or point me to a tutorial or something. I can see the signal coming in strong on SDR# and I can see that it's not static noise on MMSSTV, but it's not a coherent photo. I'm getting offset lines of color. For some reason, MMSSTV isn't getting the sync signals (that's a guess on my part). What am I missing?

I am not using that exact setup but will throw some ideas out that may help:
MMSSTV may have a filter (LPF or a BPF). Try it on and off.
Are you recording the audio as a wav file? If so, open it in Audacity or another audio player and play it from there into the virtual audio cable and into MMSSTV.
Try RX-SSTV instead.
I'm on Mac OS at the moment and I was just using Audacity -> Soundflower virtual audio cable > Multiscan 3B and I had artifacts on a good reception so I closed Multiscan 3B and Audacity and reopened them and the artifacts went away. So may be just try "turning it off and on again."

Hi Steve,
In the past ARISS team collected a lot of images received by SDR. I know also a lot of students in Poland that used SDR with their own antennas to receive RF signal and decode images with quite a good effect.
Although MM-SSTV is useful (many options to set manually), however in many cases, when your audio is good quality, you can use RX-SSTV, which works automatically with quite good results of images.
In RX-SSTV are fewer options to set manually, but the effect of the image is in most cases very good.
Here is the link to articles in Polish, but some images can be helpful, for you. http://konferencja.ariss.pzk.org.pl/doc/sdr_sstv.pdf
PS. When we are talking about direct audio from the SDR then (not from audio recorded to the file):
Check the sound levels on the virtual cable. Be sure that RX-SSTV receives the audio via virtual cable, not by the microphone. I did this mistake a few times in the past. In my case, I turn off (disable) the mix stereo device, to avoid appearing (by my mistake) any additional sounds on the SSTV melody. Check the frequency of all of the sound card inputs/outputs that are set eg. to 24 bits 48 kHz.
Good luck, and please infrom me about the progress. ;)
