I received the following message concerning the passing of Reinhard Richter DJ1KM. I don't know what the complete distribution is, so I thought I should forward it to the BB.
If you are not familiar with Reinhard, I first met Reinhard when he was working on the AMSAT-DL Website, most directly he was managing the AO-40 Schedule. He was active on AO-40 and I `had several contacts with him in the short time I was working that bird.

There is a wonderful picture of him on his web page http://www.dj1km.de/ with the great story of his amateur life in both English and German.

Hi, All
Having noted that Reinhard DJ1KM was not active on FO-29 I sent to him an email and he responded to me on 19 september informing to be again home after receiving an important surgical operation.
Reinhard was confident until the last time he can survive and fighted, but had no chance.
I am very sorry on the sad event but I am sure that the voice of our friend Rene D-J-1-Kilo Mike will be always present with us in spirit through all amateur satellites for ever.

Sad to hear the news Peter.
BTW wasn't his call DJ1KM rather than DL1KM ?

Yes. Hitting the reply button is always problematic. I know, I mess this up all the time!
Reinhard was always a great friend to amateurs everywhere. In the 1980's he was very involved with AEA in Europe and I got to know him then. He was always warm and friendly to me and many others I knew. He will be missed and his silent key will be noticed.
