Re: Coax length and connector style for M2 LEO antennas
Welcome to the sat world, lot's of fun. I only operate RS-44 due to a high noise level on 2 meters. I would recomend a preamp for 435. It's a big help. The radio uses Pl's on 2 so I would not worry about that. Good luck see you on RS-44. Mike On Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 06:27:52 PM EST, Erik Eitel via AMSAT-BB amsat-bb@amsat.org wrote:
I’m wondering if anyone has cable length recommendations for the M2 LEO antenna on a rotator. I presume many people use a shorter length of LMR240 (or equivalent) and then switch to LMR400 (or equivalent) for the run to the radio. So I am just trying to determine the length of those short jumpers at the antenna. Would 15’ be a good length? What about connectors? For UHF side I will use N on the coax. On the VHF side, instead of a barrel adaptor connecting two PL259s, would it make sense to go VHF antenna -> PL259 - coax jumper - female N -> male N - coax to shack - male N -> female N - coax to radio - PL259 Or is it fine to leave them all PL259 / SO 239? 73Erik K2ERK - FN20
