The Yaesu manual calls for six wires #20AWG each.
All the rotor control cable I can find at the usual radio stores is:
Standard duty: 2x #18 & 6x #22 @ $.049
Or
Heavy duty: 2 x #16 & 6 x #18 @ $0.89/ft.
My control line run will only be under 35 feet. Maybe I'm being overly cheap, but between the rotator and the M2 LEO pack, costs are starting to add up.
Your thoughts are appreciated.

I just used the regular rotor wire.....works fine.
At first I tried thermostat wire, but what a pain. Solid wire and stiff!
I finally found this stuff: https://www.shireeninc.com/osc/cables/ret-control-cable
It's $1.25/ft, but what I liked is that it came with nice connectors. So what I did was get two lengths (one az, one el) and cut them so I have one connector a foot or 2 from the cut. I connect that end to the control box, and the other cut end to the Yaesu plug. Now I have a nice plug that I can use to disconnect the control box easily. I don't remember the size of the wires, but the have to be at least #20.
That all said, bigger (i.e. a smaller number) than #20 will certainly work ok.

You have 8 wires and only need 6. So, just double (or triple if you want) up on the 22g and use that and the two 18g wires for E4,5&6 and A4,5&6. Those are the only ones going to the motor and the only ones needing to handle high currents. A/E1,2&3 only carry low currents for the positioning potentiometer.
Two 22g wires are approximately the same current carrying capacity as a 20g wire. Three would be closer to 19g equivalence. For short runs you can get away with a lot, but for longer runs, I’d go with the heavy duty line.

I used what ever they brand in the UK rotator cable for my home install.
Portable (same rotator) used ethernet cable with good success.

Frank,
I find that standard automotive trailer cable is more than adequate. Each side of the G5500 only needs six lines, so two sets of six-core trailer cable will do the job nicely.
Probably a lot cheaper than official "rotator cable" too.
