Uplink Doppler Changes For FM Satellites
Uplink Doppler Changes For FM Satellites Question. I am updating my HH Freq currently.
As I under stand it, the Fox Satellites (AO-91 & 92) receiver have AFC (automatic Frequency Control) which means that no doppler change in the transmit frequency is required nor should it be put into effect. My question is does anyone know whether or not any of the following FM Satellites also have AFC for their receivers?
PO-101 (Diwata)CAS-3H (LilacSat-2)Huskysat-1DOSAAF-85 (RS-44)CAS-7A (not launched yet) Thank you for your assistance. 73 Tim CrawfordKE7TAC
Confused why you think Huskysat-1, DOSAAF-85 (RS-44), CAS-7A are FM sats they are all linear so please don't be putting any FM through them.
Current FM fleet is AO-91, AO-92, SO-50, Lilacsat-2 and PO-101 nothing else.
You still need to put Doppler correction into the memories on AO-91 and AO-92 not sure why you wouldn't be there are so many charts available just to transpose into the memory software.

The AFC was discussed in the past.
Best point made IMHO that you should compensate for Doppler is that if a lot of people are uplinking, the receiver at bird is going to be more likely to receive properly compensated signals.

I use KE0PBR’s frequency cheat sheet. Hope it helps others as well and clears things up for you

CAS 7A has (or will have) an FM transponder in addition to the 3 linears ( 15/10;15/70; 2/70)Launch show 15 sep 2020.
