I got my first taste of satellites listening to ATS-3 with a discone, wideband tower mounted preamp, and Regency MX-3000 receiver back in about 1984. There were continual round table discussions by the Bahia from places like Roatonga. 135.575 MHz I recall.
Does anyone else recall this traffic? Is it still going on?
From that I started hearing various channels of Fleetsatcom between 250 and 270 MHz, loud and clear with the same setup.
"The record holder appears to be ATS-3 still nominally operational after an amazing 41 years!"
That's impressive!
