SO-67 pass over Europe.
Hello all,
Just trying to make a contact on SO-67 today. I also noticed the dropouts. Couldn't even make a contact over it. I made a recording of it and put it on my website.

Hi all,
Listening to some of the recordings over North America/Europe is quite instructive and seems to conform to a consistent pattern. Station A transmits and holds in the transponder without problems. Station B begins transmitting but drops out two to three seconds later when the transponder tail ends. On rare occasions two strong stations seem to avoid the problem and I suspect this may be because their carriers overlap and SO-67 sees a continuous carrier and does not trigger the transponder tail. This may be a technique to avoid the dropouts. Station A holds the carrier on for a second after a call and station B may be able to overlap with A's carrier and avoid the dropout. Perhaps worth a try.

Hi Alan,
Dont forget that SO-67 is narrow FM, if your rig cant do NFM you will need to wind the mike gain down to avoid over deviating. I found that if your over deviating you will experience drop-outs.
