Hi to the group!
Just worked AO-16 this morning: - worked RW3XL and EB3SA between 5.24 and 5.35 UTC - very strong signal, sometimes better in LHCP, using my 2x15 elements antenna and PREAMP (always S7-S9 on IC-910) - voice quality better on USB - very diffult to tune the downlink, between 437.034 (AOS) and 437.014 (LOS) for me... - uplink very sensitive, worked all the pass with only 1-2 W and my 2x7 elements antenna (always on RHCP)
Many thanks to the AO-16 command team, great job guys!

Good morning,
I was able to work K6IA this morning at about 1.4 degrees elevation, signals were good. I noticed a slight carrier on the downlink that if I kept my tuning where it was just audible I was able to stay relatively close to the voice (where it was inteligible).
So, now that AO-16 is in this mode, is it possible to put the other PACSAT's that are in MBL mode into voice repeater mode such as IO-26 and LO-19?

I noticed that carrier too. I thought it was a terrestrial qrm, and yes, it helps tuning.

I can say that we are actively investigating the possibilities, and we'll let everyone know if something develops.

Hello All,
Is there any possibility in the future of trying the AO-16 2.4GHz transmitter for a challenging mode V/S? Looking forward to next week when I can give it a try outside of working/sleeping hours.

The S-band modulation is pretty much zilch, so that wouldn't really work.

If there is a slight carrier on the downlink side, I wonder if someone with a sound card and a "bit" of spare time could work up an automatic tuning adapter? Zero beat the carrier by tickling the mike up and down buttons; something like that. You'd need to sample (tap into) the received audio, and manually get the receiver close. Then let it run.
Crazy idea?
