I remember my high school physics teacher had us calculate the gravitational attraction between two students sitting 1 meter apart. I don't remember the value, but it was vanishingly small. Wrapping up the discussion he suggested that any attraction we might feel towards any other student in the classroom could not be explained by physics, and suggested it might be explained by "chemistry".
