Don't sell yourself short ... Those media reps didn't just "show up" unexpectedly. Your club obviously has established an excellent relationship with your local media outlets - GREAT JOB!

You are a wise person and understand this aspect very well. You are correct, the news media did not come looking for us. Our appointed Public Relations designee made sure all the media outlets were well informed about what we were doing, why we were doing it, where we were going to be, and how long we would be doing it.

The very first thing I did after seeing the front-page coverage after my ARISS contact last April was to sit down and write a "thank you" note to the reporter who did such a great job with that article and photos ... as well as notes to her superiors and the newspaper's publisher expressing our appreciation.
Relationships like that need "feeding," and it is obvious that your club KNOWS what "public relations" really is all about.
