Ok, I got the problem with the dialogue box figured out. (I had done a system restore and had not re-installed Word 2003; that's why I was getting the Windows installer box...duh! :-) )

Anyway, I got the USB driver installed now. And all this time I thought it was a problem with the drivers, when it was actually the PC's operating system!
