
Since you are successful with other birds, it may be the times you are working '73 are when it is in its 30mW mode. And even a modest beam points its way will out-perform the vertical. Heck, we heard it on its 30mW mode at the Palm Springs HamFest a couple Saturdays ago with just a tape measure beam.

Good luck Steve. Here receiving with a 12 element cross yagi and signals are a lot weaker when AO-73 is transmitting 30mW.
