The command team was experimenting with improving the signal on the L/U transmitter during the passes this evening.
The greatest improvement was noted by taking the resistor out of the path to the transmitter, then lowering the amplitude of the signal to keep it from clipping.
The U downlink now shows that a number of stations are trying to access this mode. Some are even trying FM uplink :-(
We will be switching to the FM uplink on the late east coast pass tomorrow night.
If you have 1.2 GHz SSB equipment give AO-51 a try.
