All: My laptop finally died, and the replacement came with 64-bit version of Windows 7. I installed (as administrator) both Sat-PC32 and Nova; neither works. Does anyone have any idea or instructions on how to install? Or are they known to NOT work, in which case, what are people using for 64-bit Windows 7?
Thanks & 73, Jim wb4gcs@amsat.org
Do NOT accept the default installation directory of C:\Program Files! Win7 is very finicky about allowing programs in that folder to have write access. Create a dedicated folder in the root directory such as C:\Satellite Programs, and install to that folder. SatPC32 is working just fine on my Win7 netbook, installed to such a folder.

Jim,
SATPC32 is known to work with WIN7 64 bit. A good discussion here:
http://www.dk1tb.de/Vista_eng.htm
Make certain you have the latest version. If there is still a problem, need some details about _how_ it doesn't work.
I use WIN7 32 bit, but I know at least one person who uses the 64 bit version. He is traveling, but there may well be others on the list.

Hi, Jim
I'm running SatPC32 on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop, and it runs perfectly.
How do you mean "it doesn't work"?
Does it not start, starts but crashes, no display?
I also have Nova on it, but I'd much rather use SatPC32.

Yes SatPC32 runs perfectly on W7 64bit. We need more info about how it doesn't work. Don't worry, we can get you going.

Jim, SatPC32 installs on Vista and Windows 7, 32- and 64-bit and it can be installed into the default folder "C:\Program Files\SatPC32".
There is a link "Read this before you download one of the files, please" on my website www.dk1tb.de , English page "Downloads" with instructions about how to install the program:
"Download satpcsetup.ZIP, store and unpack the file into the temporary folder. ......... IMPORTANT: Under Vista and Windows 7 right click on the filename ("setup") and from the menu that opens choose "Run as administrator".
Then follow all suggestions of the program. It will install SatPC32 into the
'C:\Program Files\SatPC32' folder."
Even if you are the administrator proceed as described.
