Dear list, Does anyone have a 8.8125Mhz crystal they can part with? This does not seem to be a standard part for Mouser or Newark (not really surprising). I am converting a Cal. Amp Downconverter p/n 130016. The conversion instructions suggest going to ICM but their web site didn't seem set-up for buying one crystal worth less than a buck
Thanks, Gary AB3ID Snow Hill, MD
Remember that "less than a buck" crystals are mass produced, often to relatively loose tolerances and poor temperature stability, and is unlikely to match your oscillator configuration.
A properly cut crystal to your specification will probably cost you 30-40 bucks. My choice of supplier is http://www.quartslab.co.uk/ Don't forget to specify the oscillator configuration and component values if they don't know your particular downconverter model.

I've used Hi-Q for crystals for my calamp mods.
They'll cut hi tolerance crystals to spec and ship globally.

Hi Gary,
It was a number of years ago (pre-AO-40 launch), but ICM is where I got my Drake 2880 conversion crystal from. I think I just called them up on the phone and gave them the specs. It wasn't a less than a buck, but given that I'd just paid $75 for a brand-new Drake, pre-amp, and BBQ dish, another $10 or so wasn't all that bad.
Good luck,
Greg KO6TH
