IF you can not obtain the AC motor part from Yaesu USA or from Ham Radio Outlet (HRO), THEN You CAN rebuild (rewind) the existing AC Induction Motor.

The Azimuth and Elevation Rotors use the SAME AC Induction Motor !

During the Japanese Parts Shortage, following the March 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake and Tsunami, Dave Palmer, KB5WIA faced the identical situation. He documented the DIY Rewinding of that AC Induction motor in his March 2012 BLOG (google search).

In October 2023, Ryan Hager, N8SAN post a similar situation with his Yaesu G-5500 rotator system on QRZ Tech Forum (General Questions). Read there OR Contact Him Directly.

Ryan successfully completed the rebuild work AND Added a Thermostat to prevent overheating (future occurrence). CONTACT HIM DIRECTLY, He May Perform This Work, If you can not.
