Thanks Drew. I didn't make on L band last field day but will be set up again this year and hope to make it.

Actually, according to Dan Henderson, N1ND - ARRL Regulatory Information Manager - Field Day Manager you are only allowed one QSO per FM satellite in the ARRL rules.
I asked for and got an "official" clarification stating if you work L/U on AO-51 then V/U would be a no-no, or vise versa. The quote was "You can have only one QSO per satellite ..... Doesn't matter how many transponders, etc."

remember... although arrl and amsat rules are similar, they are not identical. for amsat field day, you may make one contact on each single channel transponder. if both transponders are turned on for a particular satellite on field day, you can make one contact on each.

Yes, they are both different events that occur at the same time. AMSAT uses the same start time and date and ending time and date as the ARRL Field Day. All AMSAT Field Day rules are available at the AMSAT web site. In the *Site Quick Reference* choose Field Day Competition.
