As you know, what is called "space weather" can have significant impacts on power grids, communications, etc. I came across what is so far an interesting book on the economic consequences.

There is also an interesting course offered by MetEd (Meteorology Education and Training) on the subject of "SPACE WEATHER BASICS." Search MetEd, or the main webpage is http://www.meted.ucar.edu/ Space Weather is closely related to our world of Amateur Radio and Communications.
