Hi group- Any one have experience with the Hosenose LCU-3 interface to IC-471 or IC-271 ?
I'm thinking of using it with SatPC32. Any advice?
Thanks,
Dave/KA0SWT
Hi Dave,
I think you need the UX-14 plugin replacement rather than just the LCU-3 for these rigs, as they use the older CI-IV protocol, rather than CI-V

Hi Iain-
The units have a small 1/8" plug on the back that appears to be the one that the Hosenose folks say is the port to the interface existing internal ICOM interface unit. I'm thinking I don't need the UX-14 as they may already have it. That's what I think, but I'm a senior, so, thoughts sometimes go awry... away...

Ah, if you already have a UX-14 in the rigs, then the LCU-3 is probably all you need, as the UX-14 simply converts from CI-IV to CI-V.
Sorry for the noise - mind you UX-14's are soooo rare, they should probably be framed!!!

That's the way it was set up. But main window persists in transmitting out of the second digital window.
I just have assigned the main RX audio channel to that second instantiation of MMTTY, and it operates as it should. It's just wierd that the main logging window persists in actuating the second digital window.

Doug,
Are the two copies of MMTTY run from two different folders? This is required in order that each copy can have its own mmtty.ini file. You can set up the MMTTY copy used from DI1 to receive from the left channel (main RX) and transmit using FSK, and set up the copy used from DI2 for AFSK, receiving from the right channel (the 2nd RX). Alternatively, you could set the second copy up for FSK, but that would require a separate serial port for each copy of MMTTY - typically you would do this for SO2R (FSK from both radios).
I have used such a setup, configured for FSK in DI1 and AFSK in DI2, in SO1V with the two VFOs linked. If you program a couple of function keys with {CAT1ASC} macros to switch the radio between FSK D and AFSK A you can even transmit in FSK from DI1 or AFSK from DI2 as you choose (both copies transmit from VFO A). Using the same configuration in SO2V with the 2nd RX unlinked, the DI2 copy becomes a read-only decoder for the 2nd RX and the radio transmits only from DI1 in FSK.

I've got a dual-RX K3, and have N1MM runnig with two copies of MMTTY. But in trying to get thing figured out, I find I'm transmitting from the wrong window. I have to be "in the seocnd window" to TX FSK. But the first window is the main RX and since I;m not in split, that's my TX VFO.
What have I got confused?

My apologies, that was obviously to the wrong mailing list.
