Any news on the FCC approval and release of the IC-9700?
Or should I just go with the 9100 + 23cm module?
Bob: No FCC news yet, but IC-9700 being released to market in the U.K. In Feb 2019.

Bob, I would wait and see how well the 9700 is received, and if you still decide to go with a 9100 you will probably save a ton buying a used one from the people who upgrade and sell their 9100's. 73 Kevin wa7fwf

Looking at the UK ICOM sites the radio is going to sell for about 2200.00 US. Will wait till see how it is discounted after FCC approves it.
