Re: [amsat-bb] BIRDS-2 Packet digipeater
My D72/Elk was able to decode a few packets from each of the callsigns, but not display them as they appear to be non-standard APRS format (like the PSAT beacons).
The ISS packets were very strong compared to these, so that could be one reason. What antenna/transceiver/tnc are you using?

Wondering if its just me or does it seem like the deviation is low on these
sats. I can not distinguish which one I am hearing since I can not decode anything yet. I used to copy the ISS packets no problem. BTW has anyone heard any FM voice beacons ? Thanks Frank WA2NDV
Hi Roy,
Im using the Sound Modem by UZ7HO and UISS vers 5.4 that I used on ISS passes and can monitor local APRS traffic. Antenna is dual band Jetstream fixed at 25 deg elevation on AZ rotor. Setup works great on all the linear and FM sats but wanted to try something new.
Thanks Frank WA2NDV

Same here. I've monitored numerous passes and the SNR is just too low.
Here's a tweet I just posted w/ a link to how the audio sounded at my end:

... setup is a 2m X-Quad w/ AZ/EL tracking. Both UZ7HO Soundmodem & Direwolf (iGate) are using the audio from my TM-V71A which does very well with PSAT, FalconSat-3, & terrestrial 1200 packet. Of course worked great with the ISS digipeater also.
So, they've just got too little RF power, deviation, antenna... or something.
By the way, the 70cm CW beacons continue to operate on 437.375 & they are pretty strong.

That audio sounds like something is sending a regular repeating packet once every 3 seconds. Sounds too regularly spaced for randome user packets. That is a pretty high load on the 145.825 channel if it is doing that 24/7 around the world.. But maybe it is over a ground station and is downlinking data. Then it is OK. But if it is so weak, it probably is not a problem... Bob, WB4aPR

Hi Bob!
The packets were indeed spaced out way more than on the recording. I removed the gaps between each packet to make the recording shorter.
