We tend to congregate around the USB-Data allocations already in SATPC32. Don't be louder than the beacon. Operate in Full Duplex in accordance with NU1U's video guide. I have a vid on this topic as well and how to be courteous while using eggbeater (omnidirectional) antennas for FT4 as well. If you need a sked you can email me if we share a footprint. I'm in FN20

Today is my first day working FT4 on the birds. Is there an info gathering place for the culture, polices, etiquette, frequencies, able birds, TX power, rules, etc, etc. I'd like to get a bit educated before I go off and blunder as a newbie. Thanks N7AY

Are eggbeater antennas viable with fast and low s/n modes like FT4?

I'll let you be the judge based on one RS-44 pass of mine linked below, but I do have a pretty padded FT4 sat qso logbook from FN20 using eggbeaters and the 9700. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmi_8gMAEMk
The link budget will close with a lot of extra margin even on the weaker or higher-up sats. I have yet to get a decode via AO-7 though, so maybe more EIRP (via directional antennas) can overcome the warble effects or I just need better lighting conditions where the oscillator has warmed up to be more stable. FT4 is a better performer than CW in certain respects on some birds, but more ppl do CW, so I use both for omnidirectional antenna weak signal work. Eggbeaters are going to work for pretty much any power efficient modes in a low local noise environment.

Also would like to add an anecdote that I have a FN20 to EU (Belgium) QSO via RS-44 using eggbeaters and FT-4, so true DX is possible with a setup like that. IC-9700, eggbeaters, and a modern PC for cross continent sat qsos via FT-4.
