Configuring a pair of IC-706MKIIG's for satellites
I am in the process of configuring a pair of Icom IC-706MKIIG transceivers for Full Duplex U/V and V/U satellite service. They will be controlled by SatPC32 with one being the transmitter and the other the receiver.
This will require switching the duplexer-separated UHF and VHF input/output between the UHF and VHF antennas. I would like to control the coax switches automatically to avoid human error. I am looking for a signal, either from SatPC32 or the transceivers to switch the relays between U/V and V/U modes.
The transceivers have a signal on the 13-pin DIN ACC socket pin # 5 labeled BAND with the description “Band voltage output. (Varies with amateur band) 0 – 8.0 V” No other details.
Does anyone have any additional information on this signal?
Is there another signal available from SatPC32 or the transceivers that would enable automatic switching between U/V and V/U?

Ron,
That pin just supplies a constant voltage that varies by band, which is used for amplifier automatic band switching. Unfortunately, according to the following post, the voltage on that pin is the same for VHF and UHF.

Hi Ron, You can steer both IC-706MKIIGs without switching the antennas, I think. You will have changed the Icom address of one of the radios to allow control of both radios.. If the program starts - for example - with FO-29 choose the address of the radio at the 70cm antenna (downlink) as the first address value in the "Radio 1" section of menu "Radio Setup". and the address of the radio at the 2m antenna (uplink) as the 2nd address value. Uncheck the option "Satellite mode" and check the option "Autotmatic Rx/Tx change". Withh FO-29 (v/u) the program will then steer the radio at the 70cm antenna as RX and the other at the 2m antenna as TX with FO-29. You can tune the VFO dial of the RX around the passband and the TX will follow. When you switch to VO-52 (u/v) the program will exchange the roles of the radios as RX and TX. You can tune the dial of the radio at the 2m antenna and the other will follow.

The only problem left is to remember which microphone for each satellite
