Is anyone acquainted with the Myers SB-32DX 2.4 GHz Parabolic Antenna (Barbeque Grill structure) Specifically what is the pickup antenna structure placed at the focal point? Is it a folded dipole? It is not obvious looking at the outside cover which is sealed. My unit measures essentially an ohmic short. Is this normal? Any details appreciated. Thanks, Farrell Winder, W8ZCF, Cincinnati, Ohio
Farrell,
I have had two of them, and both read as DC shorts. I have always assumed, a very hazardous undertaking, that the actual element is a loop, or equivalent.

Feed on BBQ always shows DC short, as feed uses a split sleve balun to drive a dipole antenna.

Hi Farrel,
The feed used on the grid dish antennas is a dipole with a reflector. It measures a DC short because of the BALUN and that is normal.
