Posting this as a last resort as I ordinarily enjoy doing my own troubleshooting, but this one has me perplexed. For normal sat ops I am running a TS2Kx, 5 el 2m and 11 el 70 cm Directive Systems yagis on a G5400. Doppler and rotor all run by SatPc32. Up to about a year ago I ran AGWPE and UISS and a USB Signalink (through ACC 2) to dig over ISS. Never had a problem, except the occasional decode problem fixed by UX7HO Soundmodem. I finally removed AGWPE and began using Sound Modem with UISS. However, since then I have been unable to dig over ISS. I decode just fine. My transmissions sound like normal packet transmissions, listening on a second receiver. I have used all of the online recommended settings for both Sound Modem and UISS. I have played with the audio levels. I substituted Signalinks in case that was the issue. Also, I have no problem sending APRS over 144.39 using different "wide" settings and getting an acknowledgement back. My "neighbor" Christy KB6LTY has provided much assistance, but still no joy. I am missing something. So I'm hoping someone has had a similar issue with a similar set up and can maybe send me screen shots of their settings that work, especially in Sound Modem. Or, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at when the problem started, I'm assuming the problem is related to ISS turning off their packet systems regularly. Long ago I was able to operate ISS packet throughout the pass, even drop messages into their their BBS, etc., but for a considerable time now I have pretty much given up working with ISS packet. Thanks Umesh. Well I would agree except that several nights ago I pulled out the D7 HT and elk, and digipeated numerous times on a nigh pass. Immediately went to the base station and tried but no dice. Plus, on every pass Ive tried on my base station, I see the stations I decoded show up on the ISS spotter. So it remains as issue at my end.

If the ISS radio is the Kenwood D700, it is quite sensitive to unbalanced tones. So your base station might work well with a local digi, but if the low tone is higher than the high tone by just a bit (or other way around), it will not be decoded by the D700. This is because the kenwood is optimized for flat tones (at the discriminator) not pre-emphasized as most people do when they hook up an external TNC to the mic circuits.
(I may have the tones reversed). One of them can be higher than the other a bit and work fine. The other way around it simply will not work. Bob

ARISS reports that the ericcson radio on ISS is quite deaf and so needs to hear some power. Also, they are not sure if the ARISS alias works. Try RS0ISS.

Thanks Bob. Not sure but I seem to recall that sound modem has a tone calibration function which may allow me to do as you suggest. I have regularly tried RS0ISS. Both ARISS and RS0ISS used to work fine for me.

I am missing something. So I'm hoping someone has had a similar issue with a similar set up and can maybe send me screen shots of their settings that work, especially in Sound Modem. Or, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ARISS reports that the ericcson radio on ISS is quite deaf and so needs to hear some power. Also, they are not sure if the ARISS alias works. Try RS0ISS.

If the ISS radio is the Kenwood D700, it is quite sensitive to unbalanced tones. So your base station might work well with a local digi, but if the low tone is higher than the high tone by just a bit (or other way around), it will not be decoded by the D700. This is because the kenwood is optimized for flat tones (at the discriminator) not pre-emphasized as most people do when they hook up an external TNC to the mic circuits.
(I may have the tones reversed). One of them can be higher than the other a bit and work fine. The other way around it simply will not work. Bob

Thanks Umesh. Well I would agree except that several nights ago I pulled out the D7 HT and elk, and digipeated numerous times on a nigh pass. Immediately went to the base station and tried but no dice. Plus, on every pass Ive tried on my base station, I see the stations I decoded show up on the ISS spotter. So it remains as issue at my end.

Looking at when the problem started, I'm assuming the problem is related to ISS turning off their packet systems regularly.
Long ago I was able to operate ISS packet throughout the pass, even drop messages into their their BBS, etc., but for a considerable time now I have pretty much given up working with ISS packet.
All other factors considered, the fact that your system gets ACK-ed on 144.390 is proof positive. It has always been a guarantee to be able to work ISS packet.

Thank you Scott and everyone else for offering suggestions. I always used ARISS but also tried RS0ISS as it used to work as well. None of the obvious stuff has helped.
