I lost track of the "switch over" on AO-7. Trying make a sked with the UK later in Jan. Happy New year to all my satellite friends. Check out Jan. QST page 20. 73 Bob W7LRD CN87

Is there a set time of day or any logical way to know what mode it will be in?

The method to positively confirm AO-7's mode is to try working the transponder. If it doesn't work in mode B, it's probably in mode A.
Stations worldwide post almost each and every day the status of the mode on the website http://oscar.dcarr.org (as pointed out by WB3CSY's email.) A quick glance at the site should reveal that presently it's in mode A and tomorrow will be in mode B. Actual satellite users post the status. In my opinion it is a reliable indicator.
It is a mystery to me why there is often so much discussion over the mode of AO-7 when the 24-hour switch has been going on for many years in the exact same manner. You can search the AMSAT-BB archives and find lots of information on this topic. If scheduling future DX contacts is a concern, keep a close watch on the current time of day for mode changes and base your predictions on that, taking account when AO-7 is next expected to enter eclipse.

Sorry Bob. I read your post quickly. The link will on give you an approximate time of switch over. We all know Frank, K4FEG, does an excellent job of marking the "mode switch over time".
