I have to check the FUNcube data - but it is possible that it was just transmitting 30mW on this pass ... Which makes this little experiment all the MORE incredible:

Hearing a 30mW signal from a bird no closer than about 450 miles - what a GREAT "line of sight" experiment for ANY classroom!
