Re: AMSAT-BB Digest, Vol 4, Issue 78
Hi, at present on AO51 I am using my VX2e handheld attached to my 6 ele X yagi (indoor yagi) as my homebrew CTCSS board on my FT-480r is not working correctly. I have had really big problems with what at times seems to be almost deliberate jamming and what sounds like a 'pip' tone being keyed every few seconds. Again not wanting to point fingers I find the low westerly passes far quiter than the easterly passes which seem almost completely jammed with noise or just what appears 'chit chat'! regards Gus M0IKB ----- Original Message ----- From: amsat-bb-request@amsat.org To: amsat-bb@amsat.org Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 8:00 PM Subject: AMSAT-BB Digest, Vol 4, Issue 78

Hi all, Right now AO-51 is running with a second repeater, for QRP stations here over Europe. Yesterday and today I have listened - and the uplink is partially blocked by a station in the south of Ukraine or somewhere with the same latitude. Yesterday with a long conversation in a language that sounded like Russian to me. Today there was nobody talking but a clean carrier from the same region.
BUT - there were stations in Arab ? from North Africa ? The usual QRM from misuse in Spain - when AO-51 had cleared that in a more northern position it works very well even with my QRP station with 3 W and an omnidirectional antenna :-)
I would very much appreciate help to identify and stop the problem. As it is now, QRP stations will have a very hard time using the second repeater.
Please no flames - I just try to make AO-51 more usefull to all of us. 73 OZ1MY Ib
