2012 AMSAT-NA Board of Directors Election Results
As a result of the 2012 board of directors election, Tom Clark, K3IO, Lou McFadin, W5DID, and Gould Smith, WA4SXM, will serve on the board for two years. The first alternate is Mark Hammond, N8MH and the second alternate is Patrick Stoddard, WD9EWK. The final results of the voting with 700 ballots cast are as follows;
Tom Clark, K3IO..............................514 Lou McFadin, W5DID......................449 Gould Smith, WA4SXM...................393 Mark Hammond, N9MH...................309 Patrick Stoddard, WD9EWK.............213 Steve Coy, K8UD..............................162

We don't know that there were 700 ballots returned as you didn't have to vote for 3. You could have only voted for 1 or 2.

Actually, we do know there were 700 ballots returned, as stated. If everybody voted for the maximum number of 3, that would be 2100. The total votes case totals to 2040. The 60 votes difference represents people voting for fewer candidates, as you mentioned.

I don't have the current membership number handy, but the turnout was about 18-20%. It is down a bit this year. It tends to rise and fall with the number of active satellites, and member interest. Since there are a bumper crop in the works, ours and others, over the next year, I am hoping that goes up.
