PCSAT32 and Yaesu 5500 rotator (NEWBIE)
Hi All,
I am planning to get started on the linear satellites and have bought a G5500 rotator and two Wimo antennas for 2/70.
Before I put the rotator onto the roof I have been using it in the shack to make sure it does what it should. However
when I get overhead passes, with the Flip 180 feature turned on, the rotator doesn't take the antenna over the top, it still
stops at the maximum elevation and then turns to the new azimuth (not sure I explained that very well).
Also, I have set SATPC to A+ hoping that the software would automatically switch to the next satellite - it doesn't.
What am I doing wrong guys?
Is there a friendly operator in the Hertfordshire area of the UK I can make contact with?
Thanks in advance
Peter
Peter,
Call??
What rotator interface are you using?
Do you have your desired satellites set in the PRIOR.SQF file?

Hi Peter, you have two options in menu "Rotor Setup": 1. Limit max. elevation to 90° and activate 450° azimuth range, 2. Limit azimut range to 360° and activate Flip mode (180° elevation).
You cannot combine 450° azimut and 180° elevation. That isn't necessary. The purpose of both options is the same and the results practically also.. I would prefer option 1 since it is mechanically easier.
The program performs automatic satellite switching (A+) only for satellites that have an entry in aux. file "Prior.SQF". This text file can be opened and edited form menu "?", "Auxiliary Files." The file itself contains the necessary instructions.
