The only birds I see flying for voice communications are oscar 50-52 which are fm single channel operation. did I miss something or are there no birds currently flying with active linear transponders?

AO-7, VO-52 and, to a limited extent, FO-29 all have active linear transponders.

VO-52 is linear, and of course, AO-7 is still working.
