Just a curious question. I know the insulated el. boom subject has been beat to death. I happen to have five, 5 foot fiberglass boom sections. Is it worthwhile using one for the mast?? I used a metal mast for years and it "seemed" to work fine for me. Having a plethora of hardware for my satellite antenna rebuild.

Hi Bob, W7LRD
If your 5 foot fiberglass is strong enought you can use it as a mast section but a metal mast works equally well. BTW fiberglass tubing is recommended to be used as a boom.
