Re: Ofcom Update: Award of available spectrum: 10 GHz, 28 GHz, 32 GHz and 40 GHz - discussion document on 10 GHz and the London 2012Olympic Games and Paralympic Games
Note the Response Due Date!
Ofcom today published a discussion document on 10 GHz and the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The document proposes a condition that could be included in the licences that are awarded if Ofcom concludes that it may need to make the spectrum available to meet the needs of the Games.
Ofcom continues to consider how to proceed with awarding wireless-telegraphy licences to use the 10 GHz, 28 GHz, 32 GHz and 40 GHz bands and plans to publish further documents in the spring.
Responses to the discussion document published today are due by 12 April 2007.

Possibly I am misreading this document but if, as i suspect, Ofcom is going to free up a large chunk of microwave spectrum for the Games, this will leave huge capacity once the Games are done and dusted. Should therefore, RSGB start lobbying now to mop up the spare space once the Games have gone? It seems like an opportunity too good to miss and on that basis, it probably is! However, if I am right, then RSGB should start NOW to investigate and put together an action plan! (lets face it, they need a good couple of years to do anything)
