FT726R operating questions
while using the FT726R with the satellite board, a couple of questions have come to mind. First, I think that this is a fault, I cannot transmit CW unless both the receiver and transmitter are set to CW. It does not transmit CW if the receiver is in another mode. And second, I'm messing up on the FM satellites sometimes because I'm forgetting to turn the PL tone on. Can I leave it switched on when using another mode like SSB. Will it only be present if FM is selected or will it appear in the audio when transmitting on SSB?
Thanks,

Thanks for the direct replies! Got the answers, other than the CW transmitter behaviour.
I have another question regarding GPredict. Maybe mine is out of date, there are things that complicate things for operating without CAT control.
First, in the radio interface window, activating track and then hunting down a station on the receiver, if I change the downlink frequency the uplink frequency doesn't follow it. Its up to me to figure out what the uplink frequency with Doppler correction should be.
The second item relates to the radio interface too, if I click outside of that window it disappears. Thats OK with CAT control, but as I manually do the Doppler correction it would be better if there was an option to keep that window open.
I've been a Linux operator for a while.

In the radio control window, you need to click the "L" button to link the Tx and Rx frequencies, so that changing one moves the other a corresponding amount. Also be sure the the satellite mode is correct, i.e. set for a transponder not a beacon.

The uplink and downlink frequencies can also be adjusted independently by clicking on the triangles above and below each digit in the display. That comes in handy for fine-tuning the radio if there's a bit of drift or if both stations don't quite hear each other.
