João - the Bird 43 does in fact work at 1296. The “K” series of slugs are for the 1.1-1.8 GHz frequency span. I have the 1/10W slugs and they work FB; there are 25W and 50W elements available as well. The manual lists the specification of the meter up to 2700 MHz with the appropriate slug of course.
The biggest problem with the Bird 43 is that the cost of the meter itself is relatively inexpensive in the used market gathering up a suite of slugs for your workbench gets expensive…kind of like eating peanuts though!

Can you please tell me how can I use the bird 43 on 23cm band? I need a good precise swr meter for 70cm and 23cm band. However from specs bird 43 can't go to 23cm, only limited to 1000MHz.
