I have not found any info on the type of flight antenna they are using nor the antenna placement.

Any facts to be had that I missed?

Official word from ARISS is that the nominal timeline calls for SSTV later in the mission but "[T]here are some passes BEFORE T+24 hours where the SSTV system may be turned on".

Unofficial word is that I imagine the crew has wide latitude on exactly when to turn it on. If everything else on board is going smoothly, the crew may turn the SSTV experiment on early, so keep listening and reporting to www.amsat.org/status/
