1. Shredding company will be here Friday 2. Bob, N4HY will be here Saturday morning (9:00) 3. Moving Company will be here Monday for estimate.
FRIDAY IS TOO EARLY FOR THE SHREDDING COMPANY. Postpone that for a few days please until we see how much Bob is taking.

Given the fact that we must be vacated from Sligo Avenue by 30 APR, delaying the shredding company will only add to the confusion. We need to have the shredding materials removed and the stuff that Bob is taking removed BEFORE the moving company estimator comes to the office. The movers will not schedule us until after they see what we have. The later that the estimator comes, the more likely that the mover will not be able to schedule the move in a timeframe that works to get us in the new building by the 30th.
Second, getting the piles of materials to be shredded before Bob arrives will make it easier for the team loading the truck of archival material. The office is currently 'in chaos" and removing stuff not being saved will give them more working room to move things out of the office with hand trucks. When I was at the office this past Friday, there were about 16 box loads of materials tagged for shredding taking up space in the main office area on the floor. This stuff is relatively heavy and/or bulky and neither Martha, Bob Carpenter nor Bill Hook can be expected to move all of the this stuff around to create working space before Bob arrives.
Adding to the complexity is that we cannot move in during working hours at the new location (per the lease) since the elevators are used for normal business. That means we move after 1800 on a weekday, or a weekend. The only weekend that will work is the 26th which is only five days after the estimator is currently scheduled to come to 850 Sligo. Alternatively, we can schedule for a weekday load truck/unload, but that means a very long day for all concerned and may be our only option depending upon when the movers can handle us.
Bottom line is that whatever the shredders don't move and Bob doesn't take will either move to the new location or be left behind. In the overall scheme of things, we need as much stuff physically removed before Bob's truck shows up and certainly before the moving company estimator takes a look to see what needs to be moved.
Another thought (for Martha): There are items that are currently in the office that are not on the plan that Bob Carpenter developed which presumably will be donated/given away or perhaps even abandoned in place. It is important that pieces that are not to be moved to the new location be marked as "staying" before the estimator arrives so that he can figure out what is supposed to be actually moved. It may also make sense to have Bob, N4HY be made aware of what we're considering as "surplus" in the event he might see some value in taking it to Blacksburg to help setup a working area to go through the files that are being shipped down there.

I expect to come by the Sligo Office on the morning of Wednesday, 16 Apr, and pick up a key to the new space. I am to "sit" in the new space from 1-5 pm on Wednesday, 16 Apr, awaiting the Comcast installer for the Internet and Phone service.
It makes sense for me to come to Sligo Ave on Sunday, 20 April (Easter), and put large stickers on questionable furniture "MOVE THIS" "LEAVE HERE". I think that removable sticky labels exist. I hesitate to come before the shredders (and even Bob MG), since I find that it is dangerous to try to move around the Office in its present chaotic state.
Barry: While my suggested floor plans only show 7 tall cabinets, I think that the remaining 5 can be fit in if we disassemble most of the shelves and use tall cabinets in place of most of them. They take about the same floor space. Should I change the floor plan accordingly?
A CHANGE FROM MY LATEST FLOOR PLAN, I think that the two low grey cabinets already at the new space should be moved into the alcove where Martha will work. Even empty, they are VERY heavy. I couldn't budge the one I tried. Perhaps a couple of people could meet me at the new space after loading Bob MG's truck. They could move these existing 30-inch-high cabinets around in the new space.

It now looks as though I may not have a key to the new space by Saturday. I'll know more by Wednesday evening.
There will be no need for helpers Saturday at the new space if I don't have a key.

Bob:
The move to Concord Street is NOT taking place this Saturday, 19 APR. That is the day that Bob McGwier will be loading materials to take to VT.
We will not know the actual move date until AFTER the Moving Company Estimator visits 850 Sligo Ave. on Monday, 21 APR and can determine how much stuff to move. Martha would like to move into the new location on Saturday, 26 APR.
Technically, the lease on the new office starts on Monday, 21 APR, so I wouldn't expect for you to have key access until that date.

I understood all that. I thought it would useful to move the VERY heavy low gray cabinets already in the new space while a work crew was present to load MG's truck. It is now clear that I will NOT have any access on this Saturday.

I talked to Martha today and she did not want to move on Saturday. Maybe she has changed her mind since this afternoon.

Which explains a lot.
