Celebrate Tuesday April 12: Listen
ARE YOU PLANNING to participate in the ARISSat-1 test on Yuri Gargarin Day, Tuesday, April 12, . . . even a little?
Will you be on your own, with friends/ family or perhaps at a school?
Tell us about it! (Especially if you need some help.)
BACKGROUND All Hams need to know about a special activity unfolding on Tues. April 12. Although the ARISSat-1 is not to be deployed from the International Space Station (ISS) until this summer, NASA connected this educational satellite inside the ISS to an external antenna and will turn it on as a "test" tribute on this historic day.
Like most days, there will be six brief ISS passes on April 12. You might be able to hear ARISSat-1 with a very simple radio in the clear on school grounds. Voice messages and telemetry will be heard on the downlink frequency of 145.9500 MHz FM.
