HAVE I MISSED ANY DISCUSSIONS or posts on the "other" AMSAT mail list(s) regarding the impacts to AMSAT (good or bad, imagined or real) with respect to all the recent changes by the FCC to the Part 97 rules and regs?
At first thought, the expansion of the 80m phone band and dropping Element 1 (Morse Code) of the ham license testing requirements, for example, don't appear to affect AMSAT and the amateur satellite service a single bit. But how about after a second thought?
Might there be any indirect impacts lurking?
Thanks for your thoughts.

You can find all the recent comments on the new Amateur Rules filed with the FCC at
http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/comsrch_v2.cgi
Enter 04-140 in Box 1 ("Proceeding"). Then click on "Retrieve Document List".
AMSAT filed a Petition for Reconsideration, as did ARRL, and there are a number of other comments filed there. AMSAT is opposed to new language in ยง 97.207(g) that will require those filing for new amateur satellites to provide extensive details on plans for the mitigation of orbital debris.
