I trying to get Bill some help in configuring his system for echolink so we can have his as a guest on the net, but he is having some problems with getting it to run on his system. Can anyone help him out? Refer to our past emails below.

Looks like I'll need some help. Downloaded Echolink and I get the "Cannot connect - timed out" message. Checked the Help section and it mentions the need to configure a Static IP address and port forwarding. To get the static address, you need to find out the DNS server address, which apparently requires a call to my ISP. But they are closed for the evening.
If there's any way to do this without calling the ISP, please let me know. If someone can walk me through it, my phone is 954 475 9801.

Ok Bill,
Thanks for your reply and interest in being part of our net. If you run into any problems with echolink, please let me know and I will try to get you hooked up with someone that can help. I think the best approach to this is to have you configure for linking to the net this week and see if you have any problems checking in with us on Thursday. This will give you a week to get things corrected so we have a smooth linkup on April 10th. Looking forward to having you as a guest and hopefully a regular check-in.

Hi David,
I've heard about the Thursday net and was meaning to download Echolink and try to check in. Let me see if I can get it working this evening. If yes, I'll be glad to check in and talk about Swan Island. I'm not within range of your repeaters, so Echolink is my only hope.

Bill,
I'm David Jordan, AA4KN. I believe I read that you were the lead satellite operator of the HQ8R Dxpedition to the Swan
Islands.
I am one of the net controls for the Florida AMSAT Net. We meet weekly on Thursday nights at 19:30 ET on several repeater systems in Florida
and
over Echolink. I'm always looking for items of interest to include in our net. Would it be possible for you to join us on the air for our net either this Thursday evening or on the next Thursday, April 10th and
give
us a brief discussion (very informal) on your experience on the HQ8R Dxpedition and maybe field a few questions that the check-ins my have for you? I'm sure there are a lot of operators that would enjoy knowing the details
of
the trip and your experience operating satellites from there. Please let me know as soon as you can if you can do this so I can start listing you as a feature for this week. We are only allotted an hour for the
linkups,
so you will only have about 30 minutes for the talk and questions.
After bringing you up on QRZ.COM, it appears that you live in Plantation. If that is the case, there may be a repeater system that you can hit directly that carries our net in order to link into us. If not, you can link in via Echolink at KG4YZY-R, node # 4429. The repeaters carrying the net that I am aware of are, the NI4CE system of repeaters
covering
a large area of southwest Florida, see www.ni4ce.org http://www.ni4ce.org/ . for coverage.
The N4HHA repeater in the Orlando and Central Florida area which is probably too far north. Let me know as soon as you can if this is a possibility.
