It looks like the launchpad uses an XDS100v2 chip for going from USB to serial ports and JTAG. TI's web page on it is https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_xds100.html

The USB device ID would be provided by the XDS100, so as long as you have that chip, it should just work.

I've used Olimex before for other things, and that adapter is 55 euro.

Anyway, we have options.
