Oh, I forgot to mention, in many cases, BBS satellites also had a bent pipe mode. UO-14 and AO-51 come to mind, as does FS-3 although it ceased working by the time we got the keys and tried it.

Another important use of the BBS is for Whole Orbit Data, both from spacecraft systems and potential experiments. My assertions that this would greatly simplify many cubesat telemetry issues have mostly fell upon deaf ears, since it’s not an off the shelf solution for the typical university cubesat. We could make it one. It works particularly well with an imaging system to get complete images over multiple passes or from multiple stations.
