I thought that you should tx low, not high, at the beginning of the pass, and high, not low, towards LOS?
I'm not on 1.2 yet but I'm sure that when I hear on 2 and 70cms the bird is high at AOS, and although I'm not sure it's necessary, the auto corrector in HRD txs low at AOS.

Correct - Tx low (below the nominal uplink freq) as the bird approaches, high as the bird moves away from you.
The reverse for Rx.
I always think of the compressed / expanded spring analogy.
